Expanded property portfolio, new staff hires and larger office space all part of plans following a highly successful 2021 season.

January 11th, 2022 - Sitges Hills Villas, a holiday rental agency covering the Spanish seaside town of Sitges and its surrounding areas, today announced plans to expand its business operations following a highly successful 2021 season.

Despite the negative impact of travel restrictions, testing requirements and Covid passports, the company is reporting that 2021 booking revenues will exceed those of the ‘pre-pandemic’ 2019 season.

The company cite stronger than usual demand from domestic Spanish visitors and from neighbouring France, combined with longer stays generated by the workcation phenomenon, helped booking revenues exceed any shortfall in business from Northern European and North American markets.

The company’s management expect the 2022 season to be even stronger and have put in place plans to ensure that the business is in the best possible position to capitalise on this growth.

A key component of the expansion plan is the addition of five new high-end properties to the portfolio, with more additions expected to follow soon. The focus has been on sourcing premium luxury properties and homes with unique character. Examples include Villa Madonna, a luxury mansion prime beachfront address in the most prestigious area of Sitges and with a peak season rental price of just under 21,000 Euros per week, and Masia Capdet, an historic manor house situated amongst the vineyards just outside Sitges and recently transformed into a luxury boutique retreat.

A number of new staff positions have been created in property management, guest services and accounting to ensure that the same standards of property care and guest service can be maintained across an expanded portfolio.

In addition, the company recently signed a lease on a new office located in a prominent position on a major route into the town centre, allowing additional space to accommodate new staff hires and offering a more convenient location for guests and property owners to visit.

“The Pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for all businesses operating in the travel sector, however, our ability to successfully pivot to new markets and adapt to emerging travel trends enabled us to recover well in 2021,” said Ali Scriven, Director of Sitges Hills Villas.

She continued “We want to build on this recovery and drive the company forward by positioning ourselves to take maximum advantage of the rebound in travel that we expect to continue into next year. This expansion plan should be seen as a clear statement of our confidence both in Sitges as a world-class travel destination and in the resilience of the holiday rental sector, which continues to go from strength to strength.”

Sitges Hills Villas has been operating since 2010 and currently maintains a portfolio of around 100 properties. Sitges is a holiday resort located 35 km south of Barcelona on the northern Mediterranean coast of Spain. The town is renowned worldwide for its International Film Festival and Carnival as well as its beautiful beaches, historic architecture, vibrant nightlife and sunny micro-climate.
